Peer-to-Peer Session: How Boards Can Help Emerging Foundations Build Capacity
Arthur M. Smith, chair, Owens Community College Foundation

A good mix of emerging and more established foundation members shared best practices on the process of building capacity. Conversation ranged from board selection to the place of non-members on board committees, from how to gain entree into donor communities to how to approach CEOs, from community business partners as a base for foundations to the collaborative effort between board members and foundation development staff.
