The University of Illinois Foundation is a trailblazer in creating a stewardship committee to provide oversight of donor funds, serving in an advocacy role by reviewing and addressing matters of donor intent, and monitoring practices that protect the confidentiality of donor information. Sidney Micek, president of the foundation, emphasized confidentiality and transparency, and clarifying understandings that may have previously been tacit.
