Board Professionals Newsletter: Summer, 2010

“The board professional is a cautious conduit— one who knows everything but reveals nothing,” said Rita Bornstein, president emerita and Cornell Professor of Philanthropy and Leadership at Rollins College.

“Great dynamic boards help make great dynamic institutions.”
- Rick Goings, quoted in Directors & Boards, Second Quarter, 2009

"I wouldn’t miss this workshop. It is the highlight of my year."

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words.
Watch your words, they become your actions.
Watch your actions, they become your habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” -Freeman Hrabowski

Two recent federal actions will have wide-ranging implications for all United States campuses: The Higher Education Opportunity Act and the The Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010.

This issue’s member spotlight features Adriel A. Hilton, Ph.D., executive assistant to the president and assistant secretary to the board of trustees at Upper Iowa University, a private, not-for-profit institution in Fayette, Iowa. Adriel attended the Workshop for Board Professionals for the first time in 2010.
