Ingram Center Reform Agenda
The Center advances a reform agenda for citizen trusteeship and continues and expands upon efforts began by AGB twenty-five years ago to enhance state policies and programs for effective trusteeship.
The Center works with individual states to promote a reform agenda for citizen trusteeship. This agenda includes merit selection processes for public governing boards that minimize political considerations in appointment, effective statewide board education and orientation programs that broaden trustee understanding of critical issues, effective ethics and conflict of interest policies that ensure prudent behavior, and forward thinking policies that maximize public oversight and effective stewardship. Center staff have worked in several states with governor's and legislative offices to assist them in creating non-partisan screening panels to improve the trustee appointment process and in developing trustee conference program agendas that are in keeping with the states' diverse traditions and cultures and existing system of higher education governance.
