How many members typically sit on the board of a public college or university?

A 2010 AGB survey revealed that boards of public colleges, universities, and systems have an average of 11.8 voting members and range in size from five to 36.  Boards of associate's institutions average 9.7 members, baccalaureate colleges 11.3, master's institutions 10.8, doctoral and research universities 12.6, and public university system boards have an average of 13.4 members.
