Term limits have a way of motivating people. Early in your tenure as a board chair, you need to develop goals and then set a schedule to achieve those goals by the end of your tenure. Steady progress needs to occur. Stepping into a position in which you know your time is limited forces you early on to view your journey through the lens of the long game.
