For many residential colleges and universities, opening up is not a question of whether – but of how. Mission, enrollment and budget are so dependent on the traditional college experience that another semester of remote learning is not a financially sustainable option. As schools adapt to mitigate risk that cannot be eliminated, what educational principles, business metrics and public health factors should presidents and boards consider and monitor?
