Leading and managing transformational change within shared governance systems can be a challenge not only for presidents but also for boards who may be unfamiliar with the concept itself. Shared governance is often poorly defined and non-uniformly implemented across higher education, which can pose challenges not just for engagement in transformative leadership but also for accreditation and campus culture.
Using case studies and insights gained from direct support of leaders who are engaged in shared governance work, this webinar will explore how some institutions are successfully building or revising shared governance structures to support the need for change while strengthening campus-wide governance and culture.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Identify the warning signs that signal a shared governance system is broken or in need of repair.
- Align campus stakeholders around a statement of shared governance principles
In addition, the presenter will highlight how AGB has successfully helped institutions rebuild trust and communication to enable the board and president to implement change that strengthens institutional prosperity.
Panelist:
David Maxwell, PhD, president emeritus, Drake University; senior fellow and senior consultant, AGB Consulting
