James E. Tucker, Specialist, AGB Consulting


Mr. James E. “Jim” Tucker is an accomplished administrative and business leader in higher education who has managed over 30 departments with 1,800 employees with over a $200-million annual operating budget and $2 billion in construction, real estate, and development over his nearly 40-year career. In 2012, he was named a Distinguished Business Officer by the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the highest individual honor NACUBO confers. Mr. Tucker is a vice president emeritus of administrative and business services at the University of Cincinnati, where he served for 30 years. During his tenure at the University of Cincinnati, he received the 2003 Ohio Governor’s Award for Excellence – Tier 4 (Ohio-Malcolm Baldrige Top Award) and was named Energy Management Executive of the Year (1999) by the Association of Energy Engineers. He served as senior vice president of administrative and business services at Drexel University in Philadelphia for nine years. Mr. Tucker’s major accomplishments at Drexel include pioneering the strategy of partnering with private developers to build necessary campus infrastructure while reserving institutional investments for academic and research facilities, establishing the Drexel University Police Department, achieving $44 million in employee benefits savings and cost avoidance, and growing student participation in recreational athletics and student organizations.
