Advancing Our Mission
Colleges and universities are facing increasing pressures that raise the dual risk of mission drift and loss of strategic direction. Financial strain, rapid changes in technology, increased competition, and political and ideological intrusions can interfere with mission-centered decision-making.
The 2027 AGB National Conference on Trusteeship is designed for higher education leaders who recognize that safeguarding mission is essential to sustaining the integrity, purpose, and long-term impact of higher education institutions. Presidents, chancellors, board members, and other higher education leaders will come together to gain strategic insights, engage in peer exchange, and access practical tools to strengthen governance and mission focus. Through thought-provoking sessions and forward-looking discussions, attendees will be better equipped to advance their institutions’ missions by aligning vision with action, stewarding resources responsibly, and driving meaningful, mission-centered impact across their campuses and communities.
Reasons to attend the 2027 National Conference on Trusteeship:
To Strengthen Mission-Centered Governance
In an environment where competing pressures can easily divert attention, this conference offers guidance on maintaining clarity of purpose, improving oversight, and aligning governance practices with long-term institutional goals. Through plenaries, panel discussions, and curated sessions, higher education leaders will explore practical frameworks and strategies to ensure that board decisions consistently reflect and reinforce institutional mission.
To Navigate Complexity
With financial challenges, technological disruption, and external pressures intensifying, higher education leaders need tools to respond effectively without compromising mission. Conference participants will explore how to evaluate trade-offs, prioritize initiatives, and make informed decisions that balance innovation with institutional identity and values.
To Translate Mission into Impact
Beyond defining mission, institutions must actively advance it. This conference will equip leaders with actionable approaches to connect mission with strategy, resource allocation, and outcomes. Attendees will leave better prepared to drive mission-centered results, ensuring their institutions create meaningful impact for students, communities, and the broader higher education landscape.
