Wednesday, April 29
12:30 pm EDT – 1:30 pm EDT | Assuring Equitable Access to Quality: What Board Members Need to Know and Do

Lumina Foundation recently released a report developed by a Quality Credentials Task Force comprising 22 leaders in education, policy, and workforce development. The report, Unlocking the Nation’s Potential: A Model to Advance Quality and Equity in Education Beyond High School, presents a contemporary vision of quality credentials, quality providers of credentials, and a next-generation system of quality assurance better aligned to who today’s students are, how they pursue learning beyond high school, and what they need to succeed in a competitive global economy. This session will examine the proposed model including a set of indicators and data points that can be used as touchstones to measure progress toward more equitable access and scaling of quality programs. Participants will learn about the new model and explore the specific responsibilities of board members in creating a vision of quality for their institutions and holding leadership accountable to that vision.

Facilitator:
Debra Humphreys, vice president for strategic engagement, Lumina Foundation
