AGB Board Chair – Ross Mugler:

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Ronald C. Parker, a cherished member of the AGB Board and an unwavering champion of diversity, equity, and opportunity in corporate America. Ron’s legacy is one of resilience, leadership, and an unyielding commitment to fostering inclusive environments where individuals of all backgrounds could thrive.

Throughout his distinguished career, Ron’s impact was felt across industries and institutions. Rising to the position of Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Labor Relations, and Global Diversity & Inclusion at PepsiCo, he was instrumental in shaping corporate diversity strategies, ensuring that pathways were created for Black executives and other underrepresented professionals to ascend to leadership roles. His work extended far beyond PepsiCo, as he continued his advocacy as President and CEO of The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and later as leader of the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP). His dedication to equity and representation earned him the prestigious 2024 BLACK ENTERPRISE Lifetime Diversity Crusader Award, a testament to the indelible mark he left on the corporate world.

Ron’s commitment to service and leadership extended deeply into higher education and philanthropy. As a board member of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB), he played a vital role in empowering college, university, and foundation boards to govern with knowledge and confidence to ensure long-term institutional vitality. He also served with distinction on AGB’s Compensation, Finance, and Policy Initiatives Committees, contributing his strategic insight and expertise to advance AGB’s mission and strengthen governance across institutions. His contributions to Texas Christian University (TCU), his alma mater, were significant, serving as a Trustee and playing a key role in fundraising initiatives that raised over $1 billion to support student success. Beyond academia, he lent his leadership to organizations such as the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Procter & Gamble’s Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board, Baylor Scott & White Health, and The Family Place, among many others.

Ron’s passing is not only a loss to our board but also for the many individuals and communities he empowered throughout his lifetime. His vision, leadership, and mentorship have paved the way for countless professionals and students, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

On behalf of the Association of Governing Boards, we extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Paula, his children, and all who were fortunate enough to know and work alongside him.
