Mike Goodwin

About

Mike Goodwin is a nationally recognized leader in higher education fundraising and management, known for his ability to adapt governance and funding practices to different environments. He has led three universities through their first comprehensive capital campaigns, each of which had a different governance model for its philanthropic effort; this included two universities with $1 billion fundraising goals, Georgetown and Oregon State.

Goodwin recently retired after serving 16 years as president and CEO of Oregon State University Foundation. At OSU Foundation, he worked with the OSU president to launch the university’s first capital campaign, which raised over $1.14 billion. He also oversaw the Foundation’s near-doubling in assets, from $430 million to $850 million, and its integration with the OSU Alumni Association. Prior to OSU Foundation, Goodwin served as vice president for alumni and university relations at Georgetown University, where he set and achieved a campaign goal of $1 billion and built a fundraising program. He also served as director of university development at Washington State University.

As an AGB senior fellow and consultant, Goodwin works primarily with institutionally related foundations on fundraising and governance issues. He also served as chair of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) during its transition to a global organization.

Goodwin received his BA from the University of San Francisco and his MA from the University of Washington. He is an active member of the Oregon community and currently serves on the Board of Medical Teams International, a health-related NGO serving over 8 million refugees and internally displaced people around the world.
