Dr. Anne Steele served as president of Muskingum University, New Concord Ohio for sixteen years. During her tenure, Dr. Steele transformed the financial model for the institution becoming a debt-free university during a period of extraordinarily challenging economic times for higher education and small private institutions. Dr. Steele’s innovative approach to new business models included balancing cost containment with the expansion of innovative program offerings. Academic program expansion included new bachelor’s and two new master’s degree programs, 15 new majors, the Muskingum Adult Program for evening degree completion, and extensive continuing education and professional development programs to meet Ohio’s workforce needs.
