What Are Apprenticeships?
Apprenticeships are one of several types of intensive work-based learning, along with internships, co-ops, on-the-job training, and transitional jobs, says Charlotte Cahill, associate vice president of Jobs for the Future (JFF), a workforce education policy nonprofit organization. Such apprenticeships include both youth apprenticeships, which tend to start during high school and therefore involve a particularly heavy lift concerning educational and vocational alignment, and those that involve adults. They are often called earn-and-learn models.
