About
Shannon McCambridge, JD, joined AGB as a consultant in 2014. In her role, she provides governance consulting to private institutions and partners with governing boards across the country on presidential searches and leadership transitions. McCambridge brings extensive experience in higher education, having served four terms on the Gonzaga University Board of Trustees in various leadership positions, and is now trustee emerita. Additionally, she has taught employment and business law at three universities, most recently in Seattle University’s MBA Program.
In addition to co-facilitating AGB’s three-day Institute for Board Chairs and Presidents, McCambridge often leads institutional workshops on effective board governance, strategic planning, bias awareness, and ethical decision-making for AGB’s clients. She has been a speaker at the AGB National Conference on Trusteeship and the Hispanic Leadership Institute, and for conferences of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
McCambridge collaborates extensively with governing boards nationwide to lead presidential searches and facilitate successful leadership transitions. With a background in employment law, she is well equipped to guide clients in avoiding common selection pitfalls and fostering presidential success through well-structured transition planning. A Trusteeship magazine article titled “Effective Transition Planning: The Foundation for Presidential Success” (July/August 2023) highlighted her expertise. She also regularly contributes to publications and webinars, including AGB webinars and Trusteeship articles, on this and related topics.
McCambridge’s consulting and presidential search clients span institutions nationwide, including the University of San Diego and the University of Portland on the West Coast and St. Joseph’s University, New York, and Princeton Theological Seminary on the East Coast.
Professional Credentials
A Truman Scholarship finalist, McCambridge graduated with honors from Gonzaga University (BA), William Mitchell College of Law (JD), and John Marshall Law School (LLM). She also earned a Certificate in Mediation from the University of Washington School of Law.
