In the immediate wake of COVID-19, the three-legged funding model was crushed. State funding will certainly be slashed again. Tuition pressures remain increasingly problematic. And donors will be hard-pressed to fill the gap. What’s more, in a world (at least in the short term) in which people aren’t supposed to congregate in large numbers, how will institutions recoup lost revenue from student housing, athletics, and fees?
