In recent years, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the higher education sector have proliferated. Faced with declining enrollments, diminishing tuition revenues, escalating operating costs, and narrowing margins, many college and university boards have opted to merge with, acquire, or be acquired by another institution. Others are seriously considering the possibility, which brings about the duty to act in the best interests of the institution by making an informed decision.
