Enrollment Crisis Hits Public Colleges Hardest

Public colleges and universities are struggling more than private colleges with decreases in enrollment. The 2023 State Higher Education Finance (SHEF) report, published by the State Higher Education Executive Officers’ Association (SHEEO), illuminates a worsening enrollment crisis among public institutions as tuition revenue takes its greatest plunge in 40 years.
